Course Introduction

While the online course will assist in providing a greater insight to this crucial subject, please be aware taking the online course is not an alternative for The FA's 3-hour Child Protection Workshop. This course is an excellent introduction in how to ensure that children have fun and are safe in football.

Designed for parents, helpers, administrators and anyone with an interest in youth football, Child Protection offers sound guidance on prevention through best practice, what poor abuse looks like in football, the legal and procedural context and dealing with any concerns.

This new online course will help you learn:
  • Why child protection matters in football
  • What poor practice and abuse are
  • What behaviour might cause concern
  • How to respond if a child shares they are worried and how to refer concerns
This Course is for:
  • Anyone looking to learn the fundamentals of child protection
  • Parents seeking to safegaurd their children's welfare
  • All coaches, referees, medics yet to complete the 3-hour workshop
  • Administrators and officials in clubs, leagues and counties
  • Anyone with an interest in football and access to the internet
  • Option to purchase an FA Learning certificate for just £4.95 on completion of the course
Student Benefits
  • Learn online at your own pace and in your own time
  • 6 months access to the online course from the date of enrolement
  • 6 months access to discussion forums to share ideas with fellow students
  • Initial 3 month period FA tutor support via the course discussion forums
Please be aware that the online child protection course is not the equivalent of The FA's 3-hour Child Protection Workshop. Any participant looking to take an FA Learning taught course can take the online course but will still be required to complete the 3-hour workshop.
